Again Umbro based the away shirt design for this year on a style of kit worn by Glentoran sparingly in the mid seventies and more frequently again during the early eighties.  Mainly green it sported a red and black stripe down the left hand side. The club badge returned to the left breast. Worn in pre-season friendlies including Glentoranís 6-5 penalty shoot out win against Hearts in the Umbro Cup at the Oval it would also see action in the home leg of the UEFA Cup tie against Liepajas, a game which ended in a 1-1 draw. Andrew Waterworth arrived on East Belfast during the transfer window, Waterworth being the grandson of Glentoran legend Noel McCarthy. The shirt will evoke fond memories of a high scoring 1-4 victory for Glentoran over the Blues and a battling 0-1 against Drogheda United in the Setanta Sports Cup. The goalkeeper shirt in this kit remained the same as the previous seasonís strip with the only difference being the removal of the 125 badge and the replacement of Tulip with FonaCAB. Worn with black shorts and green socks. Associated product training gear for this season was styled either in red or black. This kit would remain as the 3rd kit for season 2009/10
